THE 37-YEAR PARTNERSHIP
A Poem by Alice B. Clagett
May 2017

Sometimes
all that’s needed is
a word

Alack!

Tides rise
and fall

Ebb amble

Crabs
hang out
languidly

Sea slug
mopes

Gulls
sling fish
sideways
down the hatch

Was it last spring?

Rip tide

A surf class kid
bit the brine

The paramedic
had a heart attack

I said
so long
