Lucky Stones … a story by Alice B. Clagett

LUCKY STONES
A Story by Alice B. Clagett

Hello, Dear Ones,

I’m over here at Dan Blocker Beach, which is in the Los Angeles area. I went for a hike here with the Sierra Club. It was great! And we found all kinds of little creatures in the tidepools.

On my way back, I noticed some little pebbles on the beach. I thought I would show those to you now. Here they are. They have rings on them …

That reminded me of a story that my uncle told me when I was little. And I thought I would tell it to you …

When I was about 4 years old, my uncle used to take me on walks in the woods, on the East Coast.

One time we were walking, and we noticed some stones with rings around them, like the ones on the stones in the photo. He told me those were lucky stones: If I took them home, I’d be lucky! And so, I found myself about 20 of those lucky stones, and I took them home, and I kept them in my room.

And I have to say, ever since that day, I’ve felt pretty lucky. I was just wondering if there’s a place in your life for a lucky stone or two. You never know … it might change your luck.

Times are tough for a lot of people these days. I was just wondering if there’s a place in your life for a lucky stone or two. You never know … it might change your luck!
