The Undying Heart … a poem by Alice B. Clagett

A Poem by Alice B. Clagett

I’m not that fond
of the north face of a mountain —
all day long, hidden from the sun.

Give me instead a lowland meadow —

not much to notice —

but the very first place
where the snow melts,

and the morning sun
coddles new life
from raw earth.
