Prayer of Saint Benedict for Exorcism … a stately melody by Alice B. Clagett

Published on 24 April 2017

Dear Ones,

Here is a measured, stately melody for the Prayer of Saint Benedict for Exorcism: the tune is my own, CC BY 4.0:

Here are the Latin words:

“Crux sacra sit mihi lux / Non draco sit mihi dux
“Vade retro satana / Numquam suade mihi vana
“Sunt mala quae libas / Ipse venena bibas”

The Wikipedia translation (1) is like this:

“Let the Holy Cross be my light / Let not the dragon be my guide
“Step back Satan / Never tempt me with vain things
“What you offer me is evil / You drink the poison yourself.”

In love, light and joy,
I Am of the Stars
